THE DAILY GUIDE
Within each one of us there
is a presence, a something more real than anything we can identify with
our thinking minds. Until that something becomes a conscious experience
we depend on only a fraction of the wisdom that is available to guide
us. Once, miraculously, as it did with me, a break through takes place
after which we are able to listen to our own profoundly wise inner voice
on a daily basis. From then on, we are no longer helpless victims of
whatever life throws at us and the limit of our accomplishment becomes
infinite.
On New Year’s morning one January first, I was facing what from
all appearances promised to be a disastrous New Year and the apparent
possibility of my losing all that I had saved and worked for. As I sat
in meditation contemplating the likelihood of what the year would bring,
my intuition began to speak to me in a different voice than it had before.
On the table beside me, where I keep my Bible and inspirational writings,
there happened to be a leather-bound appointment book that had been
given to me as a Christmas present, one of those books that has a couple
of inches of blank space for each day of the year. As I listened, I
was told to pick up my pen and write down what I heard, and that if
I would tune into this inner teacher, this inner guide, it would give
me a message for each day of the coming year, and, most importantly,
that by the end of the year the gap would be closed between my divinity
and my humanity and I would find myself able to listen to, live by,
and act out of the guidance offered to me by my own divine higher consciousness.
Because I was willing to make space for and take time for those daily
visits, what had promised to be a disastrous year turned out to be a
miracle in every way. Certain failure turned into undeniable success,
lack into abundance, anxiety into peace and joy, but, more importantly,
by following their instructions, these messages put an end to the religious
contradictions that had kept me from fully experiencing my divine humanity.
When I recorded the first message that morning, it was not so much a
matter of my thinking my thoughts as my listening to them. They were
like any other thoughts except that they seemed to be coming from a
different place within me, not from my head but from a deep source at
the center of my existential being, a place that has no gender or personality,
a divine level of my own consciousness.
Over the years I have identified that source as "the Christ,"
"God," "It," "my higher mind," the “I
AM,” and also in Eastern terms as “Braham,” the “Dow”
or the “Buddha mind”. Most often, because I come from the
Western tradition, this inner messenger identifies itself to me as “the
Christ,” “I AM” or its physical personification as
the Rabbi “Jesus” – an example of divinity when it
is individualized and expressed at the level of personality.
Whenever anyone anywhere in any religion touches his or her divine presence
that person is experiencing Christ consciousness no matter what spiritual
path that person has been following or what that experience is called
in the vernacular of his or her religious background. In any language
it is a presence and power that can only be discerned through a spiritual
sensing or a listening that is felt or experienced rather than thought.
I am sharing my year of daily guide experiences with you not only because
of the inspiration, healing, and abundance that I received from following
the messages I heard, but also mainly because by the end of the year
they led me away from an habitual way of thinking that had kept me from
closing the gap between my humanity and my divinity so that I could
actually experience myself as an individualized presence of God.
Due to the way I had been conditioned to interpret certain key words,
I, similar to most people that I know, had unconsciously perpetuated
the belief that God was something separate from my own being and presence.
The teachers I admired, the books I valued, and the Scriptures I loved
had continuously referred to the presence of that Divine something as
“God,” “Father,” “Him,” “Lord,”
and even “It,” and because those words objectify and localize
the Divine as an entity, when ever I read or heard them I couldn’t
help but think of God as a something outside of and other than my own
being.
By the time my year of receiving these daily messages was over I no
longer fell into the trap of unintentionally creating the sense of duality
between myself and God that I had before. Today I continue to hear and
sometimes use those familiar words, “Father,” “Lord,”
“Him,” or “God,” by which we commonly identify
Divinity, but now when I hear or use them I automatically and instantly
translate them into what they symbolize – My own higher consciousness!
Though I am not always able to live out from that divine state of consciousness,
I no longer think of those familiar words as something other than the
One that I AM.
These daily messages that my inner guide spoke to me are presented to
you in the sequence just as I heard them singly, day by day. As they
became more profound during the year my consciousness changed and went
deeper. Therefore, I suggest that you contemplate each separate message
singularly on its particular day and give it time to register in your
consciousness for the rest of that day, as I did, rather than your reading
a number of them all at once. If during the day you need to stay in
the consciousness, repeat that day’s message. In doing so, also
be aware that you will be tuning into the power of the collective spiritual
energy made up of all those around the world who are simultaneously
reading the same message you are on that same day as well – “Where
two or more are gathered together in my name.”
These daily prayers also reveal a pattern. They outline the step-by-step
evolutionary transition and the necessary repetitions that were needed
to bring me personally to this new level of consciousness, a heightened
and more continuous God/Self awareness. For this I am eternally grateful.
What happened to me can happen to you, and due to our current leap into
greater spiritual awareness, receiving direct daily guidance from your
own higher consciousness is possible for you, not just for a fortunate
few as in the past. Your guidance may or may not come to you in the
same words that mine did for me, but, perhaps, after experiencing my
example you, too, can listen to your own unique intuitive inner voice
and receive the inspiration and healing that you need each day just
as I did that fantastic year, and continue to do.
By listening to the still small voice that comes from your own higher
consciousness you can tap into the source of all knowledge, all power
and all presence. When you acknowledge, dialogue with, and accept that
possibility for yourself, as a divine/human you will be a co-creator
with yourself and, literally, be aware that you are the presence of
God in action. At least, that is how my listening brought about a profound
transition in my own life. If my shoe fits your foot, I am delighted
in our sharing together. If my experience does no more than open the
possibility for you to go and do likewise, I am overjoyed.
